CCNRB

The CCN of Rennes and Brittany (CCNRB) belongs to the network of 19 national choreographic centers in France which constitute a basis for creation, production, and dissemination of choreographic works.

In January 2019, Collectif FAIR-E —composed of Bouzid Ait Atmane, Iffra Dia, Johanna Faye, Céline Gallet, Linda Hayford, Saïdo Lehlouh, Marion Poupinet, and Ousmane Sy (who passed away in December 2020)—took over as the head of the CCN. The first collective to be appointed to head a brandname institution, FAIR-E embodies a new generation of hip hop dancers and defends auteur dance that is fully integrated into the panorama of contemporary dance.

Dansekapellet

Dansekapellet is a publicly funded cultural institution under the city of Copenhagen. With a special focus on hip hop dance (street- and club dance) Dansekapellet works to promote dance as an art form through different dance programs. Dansekapellet works nationally and internationally with several partners on co-productions, festivals, youth programs, exchange programs and networks. 

A black box, four dance studios and an outdoor stage, are in use all year, hosting a wide range of dance activities and dance performances for dance enthusiast of all ages. Dansekapellet wants to offer a safe space where everyone in the dance community can meet and exchange through dance. Where there is room for inclusion, creativity and exchanges for people of all ages and abilities: amateurs, up comings and professionals within the dance community, locally, nationally and internationally.

HOP Festival

HOP is the only Spanish organization specialized in urban culture and dance based in Barcelona. Its exclusive mission is to support the creation, spread and representation of dance and urban culture. The festival was established in 2011 by the “El Generador Art i Creació Cultural” association, a non-profit entity founded in Barcelona in 2007. 

HOP continually seeks local, national and international alliances with youth centers, festivals, cultural facilities, private institutions, and theaters. Its main objective is to facilitate the democratization of urban culture and bring it closer to all the diverse population.

Kampnagel

Kampnagel is a world-renowned international production house presenting contemporary performing arts, concerts, conferences and a variety of different. It’s a productive laboratory for the development of ideas and place for controversy, opening up to society and processing the surrounding reality in art. In total, Kampnagel hosts over 900 events per season, attracting 180,000 visitors to the site.

Norrlandsoperan

Norrlandsoperan is a venue and production house in Umeå, the North of Sweden, working with dance, a symphony orchestra, art and opera. It is one of Sweden’s most vivid platforms for dance that co-produces and presents app 25-30 projects per year. By providing residencies, co-production, mentoring and international networking Norrlandsoperan tries to enable sustainable production and touring for dance artists and collectives.

Since 2015, Norrlandsoperan has focused on hip hop culture through the platform/festival Up North – an initiative with hip hop dance presentations and an annual festival. To strengthen the hip hop sector locally, nationally and internationally with opportunities for community support, resources, opportunity to meet, share and explore.

Summer Dance Forever

Summer Dance Forever is an internationally acclaimed hiphop dance festival, taking place each year in August for seven days in the city of Amsterdam. Dancers from around the world gather to enjoy this dance feast, packed with the best of today and the great promises of tomorrow. Organized in several venues around town, Summer Dance Forever presents a great variety of next level battles, dance performances, club nights and workshops. 

Next to the summer festival, the more intimate Summer Dance Forever Weekender takes place every year in February, focusing on the House Dance Battle, Clubbing Forever, several club nights, performances and workshops.

Meet the artists

Ibrah Silas Jackson (NL)

Ibrah Silas Jackson (2000) is a director and choreographer from Rotterdam. His foundation in creating lies in hiphop culture, but he also gained more knowledge about different movement disciplines such as contemporary, funk styles and african cultural styles. The core of his work exists of storytelling through visual arts and movements. Ibrah made different short movies and videoclips as director, is a dancer of Ghetto Funk Collective and started choreographing theater pieces in 2021. Recently Ibrah performed his new piece “Until the Quiet Comes” at Breakin’ Convention Netherlands Tour. And he participated in Back to the Lab at Breakin’ Convention, where he made a preview of The Hereditary, which he will also perform at Breakin’ Convention London in May 2024.

Black Pearl (DE)

Black Pearl, born in Mogi das Cruzes, Brazil, in 1994, is a multidisciplinary artist known for her work as a dancer, choreographer, teacher, and model. Her career began with Capoeira, HipHop, and acting classes, leading to a scholarship from the Birgit Keil Foundation in 2010. Graduating from Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Mannheim, Germany, she gained recognition at events like the Prix de Lausanne. Working with prestigious choreographers and companies like Gauthier Dance Company and Richard Siegal/Ballet of Difference, she earned international acclaim. In 2015, she debuted “Ego” and joined the Queer BIPOC collective “House of Brownies” in 2022, advocating for representation and challenging colonial narratives and the invisibility of trans entities through her art. In 2021 she initiated The German ballroom scene with The Iconic House of Saint Laurent, currently Being 007 in both scenes.

Camilla Siddu (DK)

Camilla Siddu is a Copenhagen-based Hip Hop Dancer and Choreographer. Her dance is grounded in the foundations of
HipHop with a focus on freestyle. Member of the Whitenoise crew, she works as a teacher, Judge, and Choreographer at
national events in Italy and Denmark, while also competing at international events. For Attitudes, she works with Michael Rossi (Whinenoise Crew) – a dancer and music producer with Swiss-Jamaican roots whose dance skills span various HipHop styles, excelling in Popping – and Zuni Trosborg (Cypher Movement crew Aarhus) – a dancer and fashion designer with Afro-Danish roots, based in Denmark that works as a professional model and dancer for several brands and events, and he actively participates in international competitions.  

Majeko (SE)

Majeko is a dance collective including renowned dancers Kaide, Mackie and Inxi, each boasting international acclaims. From triumphs in the battle scene to captivating performances, they embody excellence in street dance. Their common goal is to use their shared knowledge and experience in dance to foster growth of street dance in Sweden.

Their currently untitled performance delves into the universal journey of self-actualisation among societal pressures, exploring themes like self-doubt, overthinking and the comparison on- and offline. Through collaborative choreography the collective aims to create a performance that mirrors the audience’s personal experiences, encouraging empathy and reflection.

Kaê Brown Carvalho & Jerson Diasonam (FR)

Born into a family of dancers, Kaê Brown Carvalho (FR) followed his parents Michelle Brown & Armando Pekeno’s (Cie Ladaïnha) tours from an early age. Trained in capoeira and contemporary dance, he transitioned to b-boying in 2011, founding Les Ratz crew in Rennes, France. Kaê’s style, blending fluidity of contemporary dance with capoeira touch, has led to collaborations with François Frenetik, Zombeavers, and Saïdo Lehlouh, among others. Jerson Diasonama (FR), a hip hop-trained dancer, collaborates with various choreographers, enriching his eclectic body language. Notable works include collaborations with Saïdo Lehlouh and Johanna Faye. In 2017, he founded Essenscorp, exploring movement aesthetics, with his performance Core winning 3rd prize at Danse élargie competition in 2022.

Iron Skulls (ES)

Since 2013, Iron Skulls has expanded the boundaries of movement, innovating through the hybridization of breaking in performing arts, with the goal of cultural transmission. The essence of the company combines the sensitivity of contemporary dance with the strength of urban dance alongside theatre, transcending the limits of movement disciplines.

Their passion for the hybridization of outside elements into dance forms part of the company’s distinctive stamp, where visual arts and technology form a fundamental part of the creative process. In this way, by creating artistic universes that explore the past, present, and future, the dance company produces award-winning shows in the performing arts world, where innovation is the motor of social and cultural transformation.
